ARMENIA IS READY TO COOPERATE WITH UNO IN HIV PREVENTION AREA
Support A1+!Armneian foreign minister Vardan Oskanyan received Tuesday Lars Olof Callings, the UN Secretary General’s Special Envoy to Eastern Europe for AIDS-related issues.
Necessity to coordinate efforts to prevent HIV from spreading was stressed at the meeting.
Both sides put great emphasis upon public awareness about the problem.
Oskanyan presented figures showing not so high rate of HIV-positives. It was noted the authorities should keep wary eye on the virus to retain control over the situation.
The minister said Armenia is willing to cooperate with various organizations, in particular, with UNO.
