ARMENIAN OFFICIALS HOST ROMANO PRODI

Armenian National Assembly speaker Arthur Baghdasaryan received a delegation headed by European Commission president Romano Prodi on Sunday.

The issue of Armenia’s integration in Europe was discussed at the meeting. Romano Prodi said implementation of Wider Europe, New Neighbors program must be started without delay and added that’s the aim of his visit.

Speaker Baghdasaryan said Armenia had taken the road of integration and made some steps in that direction. Armenia remains stuck to the stance of Karabakh conflict peaceful settlement.

After reaching an accord to solve the conflict by means of political discussions, the sides stressed necessity of giving new impetus to South Caucasus countries trilateral relations under European Commission auspices.

The head of the European Commission was also received by president Kocharyan. A wide range of issues related to regional cooperation, Karabakhi conflict and Armenian-Turkish relations was discussed at their meeting.

PM Andranik Margaryan received Prodi the same day.
