South African ambassador to Armenia Ashtap Sentso handed credentials to Armenian president Robert Kocharyan on Tuesday.

Necessity of developing cooperation between the two countries was emphasized at the meeting. Speaking on bilateral relations, president Kocharyan attached great importance to upcoming visit of Armenian foreign minister to South Africa.

Both sides stressed urgent need of creating proper legal ground for developing economic ties.

Tourism and diamond industry were singled out as examples of the most promising areas for cooperation.
