ARMENIA AND AZERBAIJAN DON’T ESSENTIALLY DIFFER, USA THINKS
Support A1+!US Department of State published a report on human rights defense in various countries. In the reports on Armenia and Azerbaijan there is a sentence which is repeated except the name: “President Robert Kocharyan was reelected /in the report on Azerbaijan “Ilham Aliev” was elected/ in 2003 as a result of controversial elections, which were marred up by numerous breaches, so the elections fell short of the international standards”.
According to US appraisal, Armenian leaders’ policy line over human right protection is unsatisfactory. State Department notes information about baseless arrests and detentions was received, Authorities pressed on judges, and some judges were corrupted. USA leadership mentions pressure was exerted upon Mass Media, freedom to hold rallies and marches in Armenia.
By the way, to develop policy for human right defense during 2003 USA financed Armenia by $ 22,4 million and $ 16,1 million to Azerbaijan.
