“THE PACKAGE OF NEW SUGGESTIONS ON KARABAKHI CONFLICT SETTLEMENT IS NOT READY”
Support A1+!During October 2 meeting the OSCE Minsk group co-chairs didn’t introduce Armenian Minister of Foreign Affairs Vartan Oskanyan new suggestions of Karabakhi conflict settlement. So the statements Russian Co-chair Yuri Merzlyakov made in Yerevan don’t fully correspond to the truth.
As announced, the Co-chairs are going to visit the region after the presidential elections in Azerbaijan. During the meeting with journalists Mr Oskanyan reminded that at UNO’ 58th General Assembly he had attracted attention of the international public to the speech of Azerbaijan’s new PM.
”It is clear that running the risk at their election year they are ready to neglect the obvious facts, i.e., the mutual understanding on Karabakhi conflict settlement Armenian and Azerbaijani presidents reached at in Key West in 2001 ”, Oskanyan says.
Mr Oskanyan didn’t comment upon how the presidential elections in Azerbaijan will reflect on Karabakhi conflict settlement. ”The Azeri people are to decide what president to elect. We are more interested in Karabakhi negotiations to pass upon the arrangements made and the negotiations to restart from the ceased point. I think that Ilham Aliev among the presidential candidates pursues such a purpose. One must not neglect or put aside the progress in Karabakhi conflict regulation till now”.
During the meeting Vartan Oskanyan managed to notice that Turkey has wish to fix progress in the issue on opening the Armenian-Turkish frontier.
