KOCHARYAN HOSTED MERZLYAKOV

Today president Robert Kocharyan received Yuri Merzlyakov, the new Russian Co-chair of OSCE Minsk Group. The diplomat stated that his visit to the region is of cognitive nature aiming to learn the stances of the conflicting parties on the spot.

At the meeting the interlocutors discussed the present condition of Karabakhi conflict settlement within OSCE Minsk Group. At Merzlyakov’s request Kocharyan in details introduced the approaches of the official Yerevan to the conflict settlement. According to Kocharyan’s words, Armenia is loyal to the peaceable regulation of the problem and is ready for structural discussions and negotiations.

The present state and the prospects of Karabakhi conflict peaceable settlement were discussed at the meeting of Yuri Merzlyakov, the new Russian Co-chair of OSCE Minsk Group with Serj Sargsyan, Defence Minister and the Secretary of the National Security Council of Armenia.

At the meeting Mr Merzlyakov told about his future plans, confirmed willingness of Russia to contribute to peaceful and fair regulation of Karabakhi conflict as far as possible. He informed that on September 15 the meeting of Minsk Group co-chairs would take place in Vienna . The new suggestions over peaceful settlement of Karabakhi conflict will be discussed in the course of the meeting.
