Official

On September 8, NKR Foreign Minister Ashot Ghoulian received a group of participants of the meeting of representatives of the Caucasus Network of NGOs on refugees and displaced persons with the leaders of Nagorno Karabakh's NGOs, which had taken place that day in Stepanakert.

Ashot Ghoulian approved the conduct of this meeting, noting that the exchange of experience would contribute to the increase of efficiency of NKR civil sector’s activity, and involvement of its NGOs in the regional projects.

The Minister introduced the NKR Government’s steps on integrating the refugees and displaced persons in the society, creating corresponding life conditions for them. Noting that the refugees living in NKR had no the refugee status, and they were actually deprived of any assistance of international structures, Ashot Ghoulian declared for the necessity of assisting Nagorno Karabakh, including its non-governmental sector, in the resolution of humanitarian issues.

The guests emphasized the significance of consolidating the efforts of the Caucasus' NGOs for resolving humanitarian issues, and involving Nagorno Karabakh's civil sector in the network-wide projects. They informed that representatives of two organizations of NKR – the Nagorno Karabakh Committee of “Helsinki Initiative-92” and Public Diplomacy Institute – had entered the Caucasus Network. Its representatives expressed their readiness to render systematic assistance to Nagorno Karabakh’s NGOs and develop efficient cooperation with them.

The meeting participants shared the opinion that contacts between the NGOs of all the parties to the conflicts in the region would contribute to the establishment of peace in the Caucasus.
