ARMENIA IS HOLDING THE 87TH PLACE IN THE UNO’ LIST ON HUMAN DEVELOPMENT

Official

On July 8 UN Secretary General Kofi Annan made public the 2003’ UNO report on Human Development.

Like during the previous years, the report classifies the 175 countries monitored under human development level. Among the 175 countries Armenia is one of those with average development level, holding the 87th place. The list on human development includes indices such as life duration, education level, per capita income, indices of those studying in all kinds of educational institutions.

It is to state that because of data miscalculation Armenia was first located in the 100th place in the report. The mistake was corrected, and the comments on it were represented in the Internet version of Human Development report.

The Office of Human Development report informed the Armenian government over it, stating despite recession in Central and Eastern Europe and CIS countries in 1990’s, human development in Armenia has always been stable.
