BRUSSELS CONFERENCE ON GENOCIDE

On June 19 a scientific conference on “Armenian Genocide – Death and Rebirth of A Nation”, took place in Brussels. Representatives of Armenia and European countries partook in it.

The reports and discussions were mainly about the Armenian genocide, committed by the Turkish Government in 1915-1916, the fate of Armenians, and the horrible consequences of the Genocide to the world culture heritage.

Conference participant Architect Armen Hakhnazaryan has talked about the officially planned destruction of the Armenian historical monuments in the territory of Turkey and Azerbaijan, which are considered as part of world cultural heritage by UNESCO.

Philologist and sociologist Tesa Hoffman referred to the sad state of the Armenian Commune in Turkey, as well as humiliation non-Muslims and especially Armenians suffer.

Ali Ertem, protector of human rights, severely criticised policy of Genocide negation by the present Turkish Government, and voiced his willingness to protect minorities in Turkey.

After the conference the people headed by the representatives of the Turkish delegation and the Comparing Centre of Armenian Unions in Sweden laid wreathes on the Khachkar for the Armenian Genocide victims.
