NAGORNO-KARABAKHI FOREIGN MINISTRY ISSUED A STATEMENT

Nagorno-Karabakhi Foreign Ministry issued a statement on upcoming presidential elections.

"Presidential elections are to be held August 11 in Nagorno-Karabakhi republic. Democratic procedure of president election is the firm attitude of the leadership of the republic seeking international recognition. The EU statement on non-recognition of Karabakhi elections prompts bewilderment and can be treated as an attempt hampering democratic processes on the territory included in the zone of European responsibility. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expresses hope that the presidential elections in Nagorno-Karabakh will be held in the atmosphere of openness and transparency. About 100 independent international observers and journalists from the USA, Russian Federation, France, United Kingdom and Italy are registered to watch election process", the statement says.
