On July the 18-th Armenian president Robert Kocharyan signed the Law on "Military service" adopted by Parliament. The Law makes provisions for the order on military service in the systems of defence of Armenia, national security, internal affairs, and relations regarding appointment and dismissal of servicemen, also qualification, decorating with ranks , reducing and restoration of them and so on.

On July the 18-th president also signed several articles of the Law on "Military obligation" adopted by Parliament and the Law on declaring validity-lost the Law on "Millitary ranks of the Servicemen of Armenian Armed Forces" .
