“The ARF has no plans to ensure the political activity of anyone, including Robert Kocharyan,” told “A1+” today ARF Bureau representative Armen Rustamyan. According to him, the ARF implements its policies through its ministers and deputies in government.
“Robert Kocharyan is free and he must decide whether he is returning to politics or not,” said Rustamyan. He also believes that the previous presidents must not leave politics, but rather apply their contacts, possibilities and knowledge for Armenia’s development. He says that Levon Ter-Petrosyan shouldn’t have isolated himself from the state and the society so that the people wouldn’t be surprised to see his return.
The ARF is satisfied with the government headed by Tigran Sargsyan. In fact, Rustamyan told “A1+” that this government essentially differs from the previous governments.
“Tigran Sargsyan understands the current challenges and technologies and ensures many innovations.”
According to Rustamyan, reforms are taking place rather slowly because the government faces the difficult issue of overcoming the post-election crisis and trying to fight against the global economic crisis at the same time.
MAY NOT BE RELEASED UNTIL SESSION
According to Armen Rustamyan, the best way to solve the current political crisis in Armenia would be to establish solidarity and tolerance through amnesty. But Rustamyan says that the government didn’t have enough time.
The ARF Deputy considers the issue of revising articles 225 and 300 of the RA Criminal Code a serious issue and says that the prosecutor will be forced to revise the charges.
Rustamyan said that Armenia must have something to say during the PACE Monitoring session to be held March 30-31 in Valencia. èáõëï³ÙÛ³ÝÁ Ýß»ó. §
As to whether this means that the prisoners must not stay in the cells until the April session so that the Armenian delegation doesn’t lose its voting rights, Rustamyan said that there are still prisoners, but Armenia didn’t lose its voting rights.
