ONLY MYASNIK MALKHASYAN’S POLE WILL REMAIN / VIDEO /
Support A1+!The trial of former Deputy Prosecutor General Gagik Jhangiryan in the Kentron and Nork-Marash districts general jurisdiction court began with the rejection of the intermediary presented by defendants during the previous court session. Let us recall that during the last session, the defendants mediated the dismissal of Judge Zhora Vardanyan. In today’s session, the defendants declared a new intermediation. They demanded from the judge to “consider unacceptable the injured party Tigran Aghvanyan’s coat and shirt as evidence”. They noted a number of reasons, which don’t allow those items to serve as a basis for the charge. For example, they stated the fact that the witness declared that the clothes were confiscated on February 23, while the investigator had confiscated them on February 26. Judge Zhora Vardanyan announced that the decision of the intermediation will be released when the final verdict is reached in the consultation room. That made not only the defendants angry, but also those gathered in the courtroom. In fact, besides being full, those gathered in the courtroom were rather active and made calls every now and then. Among the gathered were Husik Baghdasaryan, Vardan Malkhasyan and Jirair Sefilyan, who were recently released. “You have no right to postpone the discussion because the defendant side must use it in its speech,” said Gagik Jhangiryan and added in a more aggressive tone: “You’re repeating the same mistake you made for the March 1 case. All intermediations for impermissibility of evidence are postponed and you claim that they will be examined in the consultation room. You don’t discuss anything and Smbat Ayvazyan’s verdict is proof of that. You prove once again that this legal proceeding is not a criminal case trial. You know very well that the charges pressed against me and my fellow political prisoners are nothing, even the Council of Europe declared that yesterday. The only thing that will remain from the “Case of the Seven” is Myasnik Malkhasyan’s pole.” After this statement, the defendants once again mediated the judge to declare a dismissal. “Your goal is to win time,” said Zhora Vardanyan, to which Gagik Jhangiryan said: “My goal is justice, so that there will be laws in this country.” The decision of the intermediation will be released on December 22 at 2 p.m.
