SARGSYAN RECEIVED THE OSCE SECRETARY GENERAL
Support A1+!Serzh Sargsyan received today OSCE Secretary General Mark Perrin de Brichambaut and the delegation accompanying him. The sides discussed possibilities for the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict settlement and the role of the OSCE in the final round of the process.
Serzh Sargsyan and Mark Perrin de Brichambaut attached great importance to the statements of the OSCE Foreign Ministers and foreign ministers of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairing countries on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict settlement, which were approved in Helsinki. They shared the opinion that the bellicose statements cannot have an impact on the settlement of issues and that the events of August proved once again the danger of settling conflicts by force.
The sides also touched upon the political and economic reforms taking place in Armenia. According a press release, the OSCE Secretary General asked in which fields the OSCE can be of help, noting that Sargsyan has undertaken daring and rational steps during his presidency in terms of reforms.
President Sargsyan said that the Armenian administration is determined and will be consistent with the reforms, which are laid in the groundwork of the president’s pre-election platform and are in accordance with the priorities set forth by the political coalition.
During the meeting, the sides also touched upon the issue of prisoners who were arrested in the wake of the events of March 1-2.
