HACPANYAN ON HUNGER STRIKE

French citizen Sargis Hacpanyan is still in the “Vardashen” penitentiary and has declared a hunger strike for an infinite amount of time, told “A1+” press secretary of the head of the penitentiary department of the RA Justice Ministry Arsen Babayan. Although Hacpanyan had declared a hunger strike since yesterday, the penitentiary administration received the appeal today. According to that appeal, Hacpanyan has declared a hunger strike against his case.

Let us recall that Sargis Hacpanyan is charged with false treason by the 1st point of the 2nd part of article 333 of the Criminal Code. The National Security Service called Hacpanyan to an investigation in the framework of the criminal case brought up against him on the occasion of the publication of the information in “Haykakan Zhamanak” (Armenian Times) according to which he had organized the assassination of Serzh Sargsyan.

Sargis Hacpanyan’s attorney Giril Hovhannisyan also affirmed the fact that Hacpanyan had declared a hunger strike.

“When I talked to him, I found out that he is complaining that there is a ban for visits and telephone conversations and epistolary is under control. Hacpanyan wanted to talk to his parents in France. They have a custom of talking to each other once a week,” informed Giril Hovhannisyan.

According to the attorney, Sargis Hacpanyan is declaring a hunger strike for all political prisoners starting from December 1.
