1% EXPECTATION FROM CASE INVESTIGATION
Support A1+!On November 14 at 12:00 p.m. the Kentron and Nork-Marash general jurisdiction court presided by Judge Armen Khachatryan will hear the “Case of the Seven” of the attorney group. The case is against the verdict of prosecutor Koryun Piloyan, who supervised the inquiry of the seven detained in the aftermath of the events of March 1 and 2. According to the verdict, the deadline for getting familiar with the 41 volume materials of the criminal case had been prolonged from October 31 to November 10.
Legal services coordinator of the Armenian National Congress Arman Khachatryan says that the congress expects a 1% outcome from this judicial process. “However, we are going to apply all measures according to the law and try to bring back the reasonable deadlines for the defense,” stated Khachatryan during an interview with journalists.
Let us recall that Alexander Arzumanyan, Hakob Hakboyan, Myasnik Malkhasyan, Grigor Voserchyan, Suren Sirunyan, Sasun Mikayelyan and Shant Harutyunyan are charged with article 300 (state appropriation) and second part of article 225 (mass disorder) of the RA Criminal Code in the March 1-2 case.
Attorney Hovik Arsenyan noted that they have not managed to get acquainted with many items that were proposed as evidence, including poles, rocks, etc.
“The preliminary inquiry ended on September 4 and they gave us time, but they didn’t say anything in particular. We demanded at least 80 days, but on the 43rd day the preliminary investigation body declared that time is limited. They gave us another volume of material consisting of 360 pages and gave us only three hours. That is a violation of domestic and international laws,” he noted.
As far as the new 42 volume for the “Case of the Seven” is concerned, Arsenyan noted that the volume includes the 336-page records of evidence of the injured and their legal representatives of getting acquainted or refusing to get acquainted with the materials, yet those records had not been given to the attorneys. They were given only on November 7 based on the intermediation presented by the attorneys.
