EMBATTLED A1+ STILL OFF THE AIR
Support A1+!Today the Zharangutiun (Heritage) Party took a 20-minute break before the National Assembly considered the amendments to the Law on “Television and Radio.”
“This is another step backward on the path of democracy. It somehow denigrates the National Assembly as “the issue was not to be considered in haste,” said Head of the Zharangutiun Faction Armen Martirossian.
Immediately after the break the National Assembly passed the draft law with 62 votes for, 5 against and 4 abstentions. Under the draft law no tenders for television and radio frequencies will be announced by July 20, 2010.
The bill suggests that although the European Court of Human Rights upheld A1+’s claim the Company will not return to the air for at least two years.
