ARMENIANS OF AMERICA SET DEADLINE
Support A1+!Armenians of America rallied to the appeal of the U.S. Center for Support of Levon Ter-Petrossian at 11.00 (local time) on July 29.
The participants of the protest rally addressed a letter to Armenia's leadership, the PACE and the U.S. State Department demanding the release of the Armenian political prisoners by August 1. The relatives of the political prisoners handed over the letter to the Consul General but the latter did not accept it and aroused anger in the protesters. The protest rally was followed by a sit-down strike. The participants, about one hundred people, stayed in front of the Consulate General of Armenia till 9 p.m. The rally is still underway. Some sit-down strikers announce to go on a hunger-strike. The sit-down protest will last for 24 hours, reports the press service U.S. Center for Support of Levon Ter-Petrossian.
