“ROBERT KOCHARIAN IS A CRIMINAL”

Politics

The RA Police are dismissing the claims against the opposition representatives. Today the Administrative Court of Armenia decided to dismiss the suit against Davit Shahnazarian, member of the Armenian Pan-National Movement, as the police had withdrawn from their own suit.

The Police accused Shahnazarian of calling for participation in unauthorized rallies and marches at the Center of Yerevan on May 22.

Shahnazarian considers the dismissal of the suit a weak step on the side of the authorities. He is sure that it was just a decisive step to show the European institutions that the Government has relieved pressure on the opposition. Shahnazarian is determined to bring a suit against the police demanding compensation of advocatory expenses and other losses.

Concerning his accusation Davit Shahnazarian said: “It is an exclusively political persecution. On May 22 I called to the people for participation in marches but now I call for holding a rally on 20 June to get rid of these criminal authorities. The struggle we have launched must end in the overthrow of this criminal regime”, he announced.

Shahnazarian was surprised at the suit brought against him as he had never concealed his attitude towards the authorities. “I have been declaring since 1998 that Robert Kocharian is a criminal. It is not an insult; it is a legal assessment. And now they accuse me of calling for rallies. It shows how miserable the present authorities are”, stated Shahnazarian.

Noting that it is the criminal regime’s self-will that governs Armenia Davit Shahnazarian reminded: “At the beginning of May the Pan National Movement announced they were going to organize an “unauthorized” rally on June 20 if the Government did not allow holding rallies by that time. It is our constitutional right to hold rallies. Moreover, the international right, which stands above the constitutional, permits to struggle against the illegal regime at any cost.”
