CHILDREN DEMAND TO FREE POLITICAL PRISONERS

Politics

On May 30 political prisoners’ wives and children staged a protest action near the RoA General Prosecutor’s Office. The children were holding posters and shouting “Free our fathers.”

“We urge the authorities to free the political prisoners. We are determined to struggle till the end. It is 93 days my father is under arrest. No matter how hard they try to isolate him they will not manage to silence my father,” said Lusine Harutiunian, the daughter of the commander of “Arabkir” detachment Hovhannes Harutiunian.

“Our parents know the price of freedom. They have lost friends on battlefields. They have struggled hard for our well-being. I haven’t seen my father for two months. I shall not surrender. We shall struggle to the end until all innocent people are set free,” said Tsovinar Banuchian, the daughter of Matenadaran’s deputy director Arshak Banuchian.

The protesters handed the sixth letter to the Prosecutor’s Office.

“Though we have got no response we continue sending letters as we don’t want to breach the law,” said Alexandre Arzumanian’s wife Melissa Brown.

“We, Armenian women, consider this farce as a political persecution against the whole opposition. We voice a protest against unlawfulness in the country and urge the country’s leadership to stop political chases and release political prisoners,” runs the protesters’ letter addressed to the Prosecutor’s Office.
