“CELLS RESEMBLE TURKISH JAILS”

The representatives of all forces made speeches at the second congress of the forces supporting Levon Ter-Petrossian. The congress was presided over by Levon Zurabian who thanked the “Zharangutiun” (Heritage) Party for making every possible effort to overcome the crisis in the country.

In reply, “Zharangutiun” member Vardan Khacahtrian said that theirs is a democratic party and they must always “stand close to people.” Vardan Khachatrian said that the March 1 events were resulted by the authorities' weakedness. “Тhe tree of liberty is always watered with the blood of tyrants patriots,” he said.

Vardan Khacahtrian condemned all forces supporting the authorities before the final disclosure of the March 1 events.

Khacahtrian said he had met with the political prisoners.

“The cells they are kept in resemble Turkish jails. And yet, I saw an anchor of hope, strong belief and will-power on their faces which means the struggle is still ongoing,” he said.

Deputy leader of the NZhK Hrachia Sarkissian addressed the presentees on behalf of Aram Karapetian and SDHK Chairwoman Lyudmila Sarkissian read out the statement of the political prisoners.

Producer Tigran Khzmalian condemned the current mess in the country. He suggested disbanding the parliament and setting up an ad hoc commission to investigate the March 1 and October 27 events as well as recent political assassinations.

“DO PASS THE RUBICON”

Publicist Tigran Paskevich noted that neither the February 19 election, nor the seizure of the power, the March 1 events or the inauguration of Serzh Sarkissian barred the national movement. Serzh Sarkissian should realise that he is ignored by people.

“Do you think that people who have already tasted freedom and overcome fear will surrender?” asked Paskevich

“Surely, not,” was heard all over the hall.

In her addressing speech Alexander Arzumanian's wife, Melissa Brown, said that the spouses of the political prisoners are proud of their husbands as they are national heroes.

Leader of the “Hanrapetutiun” Party Aram Sarkissian divided Armenia into two parts. “Slaves and servants” live in the one part and free people in the other. One part is ruled by ordinary people while the other - by the authorities.

Norik Norikian spoke on behalf of the “Alternative” Movement leader Nikol pashinian. He dwelt on the UN General Assembly's statement on the Nagornо Karabakh Republic and the PACE resolution on the Presidential election. He said that Armenia has suffered crushing defeats recently. He called on people to cross the Rubicon so that future generations would live in a free and independent country.
