PROTEST ACTION NEAR GERMAN EMBASSY
Support A1+!On April 16 relatives and friends of the Armenian political prisoners held a protest action near the German Embassy in Armenia. Before the protesters arrived at the site, a group of policemen had chained the building.
The protesters congratulated the policemen on the Police Day and advised them to join people. The protesters were holding posters with the inscriptions, “Free political prisoners,” “Restore justice in the country,” “My husband is a political prisoner,” etc.
After an hour’s silence they began shouting, “Freedom,” “Independent Armenia.” Alexandre Arzumanian’s wife, Melissa Brown, said that PACE delegates are also displeased with the outcome of the Presidential election. They had come to second them.
Meanwhile, the employees of the Embassy cast an indifferent look at the protesters. One of them told A1+ that they watched the action with great interest behind the closed windows. Cars slowed down passing by the protesters.
The protest action was attended by Conservative Party member Tatul Mkrtchian and journalist Tigran Paskevichian. The latter said that the protesters shouldn’t give up. They should continue the actions to exert pressure on the international community.
