“THEY WILL HOLD POSITION FOR A SHORT PERIOD”

Politics

It’s already a month since the tragic events of March 1

I think the events of March 1 came to testify that the political elite of Armenia is not prepared for such processes. Obviously, the authorities didn’t properly estimate the public changes before and during the election, people’s readiness and will-power to struggle and, all the more, they didn’t assess the processes underway among the pro-government forces.

“It was quite natural that the authorities would appear in such an awkward situation one day. To get out of the mess, they used arms to hold power in their hands, although for a short time as the crisis is not averted yet,” political scientist Manvel Sargsian said to A1+.

“I would rather say the authorities are entrapped, therefore they were forced to restrain citizens’ fundamental freedoms and in general to pay attention to military techniques and armaments. ”

“The currant situation demands the authorities change “their quality” and get adjusted to the new conditions but so far I haven’t seen their willingness,” he says.

The political scientist says he hardly sees marked changes in the country. “They ban information to prolong the current situation but they will gain nothing with their formal methods.”
