PEOPLE GOT TIRED OF SERZH SARKISSIAN
Support A1+!The Ornats Yerkir Party (OYP) will face no financial problems during the presidential race. The OYP relies on the financial assistance of its members as well as on small and medium-sized business owners who will contribute to the party's election fund, OYP Deputy leader Heghine Bisharian said today.
The party is concerned over another problem. Almost all village heads are made heads of pre-election headquarters. Moreover, they are assigned to provide considerable amount of votes for the candidate nominated by pro-government forces.
Heghine Bisharian is confident that peasants have to obey their village head otherwise the latter will inflict pressure on them using his administrative levers.
It is due to mention that Mher Shahgeldian will be responsible for the OYP's election campaign at the pre-election period. Heghine Bisharian will head the public relations office for the nomination of Arthur Baghdasarian, which will later turn into an election office.
The two deputy leaders of the OYP promised to meet with journalists every week to present their tactics, problems, further steps and to report on violations. The party will also hold meetings with people of different social strata.
The OYP considers important to have a fair and transparent election and deployment of local and international observation missions throughout the country. They underline the importance of long-term observation missions in Armenia. They have recently met with the official representatives of the OSCE and discussed different issues, as well as officially requested observation of the February 19 presidential election.
The party also cooperates with the other presidential candidates on ensuring a free and fair election.
“We think it highly important to join efforts to hold a free and transparent election. We sustain ties and contacts for joint effort of the opposition for the sake of a free, fair and transparent election and fight against election fraud. We may also invite presidential candidates to a round-table meeting to discuss fair rules and methodology of the game. They may come or not, it is upon them to decide,” Mher Shahgeldian says.
He also stated that although the Orinats Yerkir Party became the target of government propaganda for a number of times, the party is against black PR and strictures against any representative of the opposition.
“Armenian TV Channels televise the premier's meetings all day long. People, especially those living in rural areas, have already got tired of Serzh Sarkissian. Therefore, they switch off TV sets.
