“LEVON TER-PETROSSIAN IS A SERIOUS CANDIDATE”

“The upcoming election has turned into a life-and-death issue for some presidential candidates. They believe that the outcome of the election will determine their future and freedom,” political scientist Aghasy Enokian told A1+.

Oppositionists will not face great difficulties in the struggle. “They will lose nothing but their chains.”

“We simply endanger our country. I mean Armenia’s future will be jeopardized if the Karabakh clan continues wielding power.

According to Mr. Enokian the authorities are entangled as they mix presidential elections parliamentary ones. In reality, they have a serious political contender, Levon Ter-Petrossian. I do consider the former president a serious political figure.”

The political scientist states that in most cases assessments do not correspond to the reality. For example, the response of the pro-government forces to Levon Ter-Petrossian’s nomination was inadequate. Kocharian was mistaken while announcing that “Levon Ter-Petrossian is an ordinary oppositionist.” They will gain nothing by faking the election. Armenia’s future is put at stake. Let’s seriously contemplate over the matter.

Ter-Petrossian stands a real chance to win the election and is a serious rival for Serzh Sarkissian.

Obviously, the struggle is held in a white-and-black field. No one can colour the presidential race, Mr. Enokian said with regard to other presidential aspirants.

Generally, Aghasy Enokian thinks the next president will be known after the first round though the authorities will try to hold a second round to “gain time for bargains.”
