ADVISER OF NKR PRESIDENT LEFT AGITATED

Politics

“The discussion is quite irrelevant”, said the adviser to the NKR President Arman Melikyan during the discussion initiated by the “Caucasus” analytical center on the presidential elections in Karabakh entitled “A Glimpse from Yerevan”. He did not confine himself to estimations and tried to motivate: “The discussions on Karabakh conflict settlement are acceptable. Discussions around the territories are also acceptable. However, the discussion of Karabakh presidential elections at “Caucasus” center financed from Russia is not acceptable. This means that a third country tries to influence on the outcomes of presidential elections in Karabakh”. According to him, everything discussed by the experts proves the absence of faith that Karabakh people are able to elect. The worst version of today’s debate Armen Melikyan presented this way: “An election is a certain attempt to predetermine, to register the predetermined results and to influence on them. This discussion would not take place if it was not discussed by an Armenian party, by a NGO, unfortunately, this conference is organized by a third country, where electoral issues of another country are discussed”, said Arman Melikyan and left. Aram Sargsyan, head of the “Armenian Democratic Party” criticized Arman’s behavior. “We should prioritize the political and judicial solutions of the candidates concerning the Karabakh problem. Is there diversity in the opinions which are acceptable for one and not acceptable for another person? The rest of the standards are the choice of Karabakh people – individual sympathy, ideas, and programs”.

DIFFERENCES BETWEEN BAKO SAHAKYAN AND MASIS MAYILYAN

Representatives of the NKR Government and all presidential candidates were invited to the discussion organized by the “Caucasus” center. Nevertheless, only the NKR NA Deputy Gegham Baghdasaryan, the representative of Masis Mayilyan was present at the discussion. Mr Baghdasaryan tried to present the programs of other candidates as well. Talking on the settlement of Karabakh conflict and liberated territories, he said: “The liberated territories are the important constituent part of Nagorno-Karabakh, and we may talk on them when Azerbaijan recognizes the independence of the NKR”.

Bako Sahakyan, the candidate of the present President, said: “The talks on territories harm the country’s security”. The representative of Masis Mayilyan noted: “This is not the issue of a president, parliament or the government, this is the problem of each individual in Karabakh and everyone has the right to express his opinion and know his future destiny”. The opinions of Sahakyan and Mayilyan do not concur in the internal issues of the country. Masis Mayilyan highlights reforms in systems, while Bako Sahakyan considers that the reforms have already taken place and they do not need it again”.

“How can an electoral process be democratic, when both the opposition and the authorities defend the same candidate”, said Gegham Baghdasaryan. The presidential candidate Bako Sahakyan differs from other candidates in the low level of his education and is a drug addicted. Bako Sahakyan has never refuted this news, while sociologist Aharon Adibekyan announced that he was drug addicted when he was young and that label should not accompany him all his life.
