FRUITS OF “DEMOCRATIC” ELECTIONS

Politics

Head of the “National Unity Party” Artashes Geghamyan disseminated an announcement concerning the debates around the Radio Free Europe / Radio Liberty. Mr Geghamyan reflected on the assessments of the OSCE, the PACE, the US “Millennium Challenges” corporation on the elections and the draft laws threatening freedom of expression in the country.

“After the 12 May NA elections the OSCE, the PACE, the US “Millennium Challenges” corporation, as well as other high-ranking officials qualified the parliamentary elections as a step forward corresponding to the democratic and European standards”, says the announcement. And now the representatives of the mentioned organizations “put pressure on the NA elected in the result of “democratic” elections, impeding the adoption of the amendments to the RA “Law on TV and Radio”.

The head of the “National Unity Party” estimates the intervention of international organizations in the activities of legislative body of the RA as a policy implemented by them, which is out of logics with dual standards.

Nevertheless, the party noted in the announcement that “the presence of a number of problems demanding urgent solutions, the adoption of the mentioned draft is considered a waste of time and not justified.
