NUMBER OF “PROTESTING” DISTRICTS HAS BECOME 11

Residents of about 11 Yerevan districts held a protest action in front of the RA Government Building today. They demanded from the Government and from Serge Sargsyan to re-establish their property rights on houses and on occupied territories.

Together with the inhabitants of Verin and Nerqin Antarajin, Kozern, Mjasnikyan districts, residents of Amaranocayin, Shirak 447 subsidiary farm and Aygestan districts also joined the protest action.

All of them assure that for getting potent for property they have been applying at the State Committee of the Real Property Cadastre, Yerevan Municipality since 1998 and received the same responds, “Do not appeal to us with that question any longer!”. The residents are still ignorant as to whom to appeal.

Samvel Mkrtchyan, Head of the “Community and Right” NGO, who represents the rights of 11 districts’ residents met with the Minister of Territorial Administration Hovik Abrahamyan, Head of Department for Regional Administration and Local Self-Governance Khachatur Vardanyan and Deputy Mayor of Yerevan Kamo Areyan. In half an hour together with Samvel Mkrtchyan, Khachatur Vardanyan also came out to the citizens and said. “We are ready to give a coordinated solution to the problem. Just like in case of Kozern and Kond, we are discussing to set up a committee which will take up the problem of solving the problem. We’ll make a corresponding inventory of the districts and a solution will be offered for each house”, - announced Khachatur Vardanyan and asked the residents to wait another 15 minutes till the final decision was made.

In 15 minutes Khachatur Vardanyan, Hovik Abrahamyan, Kamo Areyan and Head of Government of Armenia (GoA) Staff-Minister Manuk Topuzyan came out to talk to the citizens. “The RA Prime Minister has ordered to set up a committee.

We will make an inventory on the residents’ property and give a positive solution to the problem”,-announced Hovik Abrahamyan. The demonstrators agreed with that. “The productivity and the time will be decided by your participation. We’ll solve the problem in the nearest future, since some residents are also involved in the committee”,- said Khachatur Vardanyan. After this promising announcement the demonstrators dispersed.
