JANOYAN DEFENDS HIS RIGHT TO VOTE

Tigran Janoyan, Ex-Chairman of International Bar Association and RA citizen residing in the US applied to A. Liloyan, RA Consul General to US with a request to participate at the upcoming National Assembly (NA) elections. In his application he reminded that he is still an RA citizen thus due to the Constitution of Armenia, he would undoubtedly vote on May 12, 2007 at the Consulate.

Tigran Janoyan quoted, 'Due to article 30 of RA Constitution, Los Angeles RA Consul should organize NA elections on May 12. Moreover, Los Angeles RA Consul General is obliged to run NA elections specified in by the Election Code (article 1, provision 5).'

In his reference to the Consulate activities, he added, ' The Consul is not undertaking any measures to related to NA elections which is discrimination towards Armenians citizens temporarily residing in the US.'

Hence, Los Angeles resident Tigran Janoyan claimed his right to vote on May 12 elections.
