JEALOUSY REIGNS IN UNITIES
Support A1+!“The 2007 elections are the anchor of hope for Armenia. Everybody realizes it”, Arthur Baghdasaryan announced in the Friday Club today.
He doesn’t exclude election frauds but “the more fabrications are, the greater the shock will be”.
In his opinion me mustn’t sit with crossed hands; we must do our utmost to ensure just, free and normal elections in Armenia.
While speaking of the high prices fixed by RA TV Channels for political ads, Mr. Baghdasaryan said, “Sixty million AMD was allotted to each party. It means that after signing a treaty with three TV channels, the political party will appear in a deadlock; if the lowest salary is 50 USD in Armenia, it means that parties must pay 300 USD per one-hour broadcasting”.
One can come across the posters of the Republican and Prosperous Armenia Parties all over the city. This is a means of preaching and they must pay for it. But if they pay for posters, how they can afford broadcasting? I think that the prices of the TV channels must be reviewed”.
As for the people abandoning the OYP, Mr. Baghdasaryan deems it natural procedure. “Today the party comprises of 60 thousand members. Each year thousands of people join us. By the way, deputy head of the party Gagik Aslanyan is not going to quit the party”, claims Mr. Baghdasaryan.
Arthur Baghdasaryan confirmed the rumors that the OYP will run for the upcoming parliamentary elections alone. On February 26 the party will make public its list. Arthur Baghdasaryan doesn’t think that the opposition should necessarily participate in the elections in alliance.
“This is a made-up scenario by the authorities; they want to make the impression that the opposition is in a hopeless state and cannot unite. Likewise the authorities, the opposition must run for the elections with several forces. I am against forming artificial unities as jealousy reigns in such unities. The main point is that the oppositional forces tend to cooperate. For the first time the RA political forces will actively participate in the elections. People and not authorities must generate power.”
“Over 15 years, all the elections have been challenged”, says Mr. Baghdasaryan and adds that the OYP is in charge of its electorate votes.
