ONE MORE OBSTACLE FOR FREEDOM OF SPEECH
Support A1+!Recently the tax bodies are conducting audits in Blitz Media Ltd, which is engaged in press spreading in Armenian regions. The company is blamed for non-licensed activities.
Today a press conference was held on the initiative of the Yerevan Press Club and Union of Journalists. According to YPC expert Ashot Melikyan, tax service representatives came to the offices and asked for license. They explained the audit by the law «On Postal Communication» adopted in December 2004» which calls for licensing of activities.
According to the information spreading companies such the activities limit the freedom of speech and conflicts with the Declaration on Human Rights. The participants of the press conference stated that they will do everything within the limits of the possible to submit the issue to the National Assembly.
