NO TO AMENDMENTS, NO TO REGIME

Politics

Today 17 parties and the Forum of Intellectuals of Armenia issued a statement, which says, “Democratic and human values are jeopardized in Armenia.

The growing illegality, social polarization of the society, continuing immigration, poverty and despair are the result of the corrupted and clan system formed by the incumbent and the absence of political will for the conduction of radical reforms in the public life. These authorities do not wish and are incapable to solve the problems our country faces. In such conditions the main purpose of the constitutional reform is the legitimating of the administration and prolongation of its power. Unequal terms set for the authorities and opposition in the propaganda period serve as evidence for it.

We reject this process and say “no” to the reigning regime. Soonest change of power is a necessity under such circumstances.

Having a purpose to launch real system reforms and form legal authorities via free election we declare a start to united and systematized actions. All the healthy forces concerned over the fate of our state are free to join us.”

The statement was signed by National Democratic Alliance, National Democratic Union, Heritage, Democratic Homeland, Republic and New Times parties as well as the Liberal Progressive Party of Armenia, People’s Party and 7 other parties.
