As for Karabakh, in case the opposition wins the negotiation process will be re-started. If the authorities win, the talks will be continued, Armenian Defense Minister Serge Sargsyan stated today.
When asked whether the Armenian foreign policy can change after the visit to the U.S. Serge Sargsyan said, “I do not think my visit to the U.S. can have a radical importance. This will be just a visit of the RA Defense Minister to the United States, which will contribute to the development of the Armenian-American military cooperation. I reiterate, we are not developing the relations with the U.S. at the expense of the relations with Russia. We are going to cooperate both with Russia and U.S.”
When commenting on the upcoming constitutional referendum Serge Sargsyan said, “If the outcome of the referendum on the Constitution of Armenia is negative, that will not be a catastrophe, however I consider the constituency attendance will be rather high and people will say “yes” to the amendments to the Original Law.” “In case good work is done, the constituency attendance will be rather high. However, speaking of the outcomes is premature yet,” stated the Armenian MOD head. It should be noted that the referendum on constitutional amendments is scheduled on November 27. Speaking of his coming visit to the US, Mr. Sargsyan stated, “I do not think my visit to the US can be crucial for solving any matters between Armenia and the US.” “A visit of a defense minister is important and will promote strengthening our relations in the military field, of course.” At that Armenia is not trying to deepen relations with the US at the expense of those with Russia, he noted. “We wish to have good relations both with Russia and the US. Armenia and the Armenian people will only benefit from it,” Serge Sargsyan said.
