Authorities are trying to pass the Electoral Code again - Armen Ashotyan's Speech at European Parliament (video)
Chairman of the RA NA Standing Committee on Foreign Relations Armen Ashotyan made a speech in the European Parliament on the current implementation of the new Armenia-EU agreement, in which he touched upon the amendments to the RA Electoral Code. The brief statement on the amendments to the Electoral Code is as follows: 1. The Electoral Code has been worked out without the involvement of parliamentary forces. 2. It has not been subjected to expertise by the Venice Commission. 3. Venice Commission Chairman does not welcome significant amendments to the Electoral Code on the threshold of elections. 5. Pressures have been made on the MPs to hold it. 6. After the unimpressive failure of the Electoral Code, the authorities are trying to pass it again. 7. There is no and will no political consensus.
