International Weightlifting Federation has extended the disqualification of Armenian weightlifter Hripsime Khurshudyan for two years, Armenian Weightlifting Federation Secretary General Pashik Alaverdyan said today. It means that Hripsime Khurshudyan, whose term of disqualification expired in May this year, has to postpone her return for another two years. To the question of "A1+", on which grouds was the international federation hardening the penalty, pashik Alaverdyan answered the following way: "It's a puzzle for me, as the weightlifters of other countries were disqualified for two years, whereas Hripsime Khurshudyan is disqualified for four years. I'm going to raise this issue at the International Federation Conference to be held in Tashkent on July 4-6. Let's see what it will give us. In any case, the preliminary findings of the IWF(International Weightlifting Federation) are not convincing." The World Youth Weightlifting Championship will be held in Tashkent on July 7-14. It is the last tournament of this year, which Armenia will miss due to the disqualification. And our athletes have the right to take part in the European Junior Championship, which starts on July 20 in Italy.
