Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Germany to the Republic of Armenia Matthias Kiesler on March 28, 2018, during a press conference, said that from 3 April 2018 the application for a Schengen visa for Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Austria and Sweden in Yerevan would be hosted not by the German embassy, but by the limited liability company "VisaMetrick", which is a Russian-Turkish consortium. Taking into account the ambassador's statement, numerous media publications on the statement, as well as the great public interest on this issue and the fear of transferring the personal data of the RA citizens, the RA Ministry of Justice's Personal Data Protection Agency initiated the verification process on its own initiative to find out how the processing of personal data the limited liability company "VisaMetrik" complies with the RA legislation. Within the framework of the powers set forth in the RA Law on Personal Data Protection, the Agency is examining, among other things, the raised issue to ensure compliance with the law in the processing of personal data by "VisaMetrick", in order to enforce the law and prevent possible violations of the processing of personal data. We will periodically inform the public about the agency's actions and their results, office of Information and Public Relations of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Armenia reports.
