Eighteen years are passed since the terrorist act (video)
On October 27, 1999 the Armenian government was beheaded. On that day, at 17:13 pm, 5 armed terrorists attacked the National Assembly hall, shooting in the direction of the first row. 8 people were killed: NA President Karen Demirchyan, RA Prime Minister Vazgen Sargsyan, NA Vice Presidents Yuri Bakhshyan, Ruben Miroyan, MPs Michael Kotanyan, Henrik Abrahamyan, Armenak Armenakyan, Minister Leonard Petrosyan. Deputies and ministers were injured, the survivors were held as hostages in the NA session hall. The official authorities did not confirm the deaths of the state officials for about five hours. Only in the evening, after 10:00 pm, a message, spreading from the presidential office, confirmed that there were victims and wounded. The bodies of the killed were removed from the parliament building late in the evening. Negotiations with terrorists continued until morning. Even President Robert Kocharyan met with them. In the morning, the hostages were released, security guarantees were given to the terrorists. The trial on the case kicked off in January, 2001, and lasted for three years. The terrorists who brutally killed the first statesmen, were sentenced to life imprisonment.
