Petition to the attorney of Zhirayr Sefilyan's case
At the trial of Zhirayr Sefilyan and others, defender Arayik Papikyan petitioned the court to abolish the decision of the judge, according to which filming of the trial was prohibited. The defender said that the limitation was directed only to the fact that the public was not aware of the details of the case. Defender Nina Karapetyan added that their organization had been monitoring for more than 20 years, but had never seen such a restriction, since cases involving only state secrets and cases of sexual abuse were closed. Despite objections raised by the defenders, the judge rejected the petition. Today Araik Papikyan also filed a petition to attorney Petros Petrosyan, as the latter had applied to his client Nerses Poghosyan calling him "ara" at the court hearing on September 23. The Defender mentioned that this was first and foremost addressed to the court and reminded that often the court dismissed some persons for disrespectful treatment from the courtroom, and in this case the attorney was only warned. Araik Papikyan said that there was another case when the attorney cursed Arayik Khandoyan at the Criminal Court of Appeals. At this moment, the judge left the conference room to make a decision.
