Lawyer demands resignation of Ara Zohrabyan and his apology (video)
Lawyer Tigran Atanesyan was charged on July 17 under Article 118 of the Armenian Criminal Code. He is charged with beating Simon Babayan, Director of the School of Advocates at his office. The lawyer brushed aside the charges considering them a lie and said everything was done under the auspices of the Chamber of Advocates. Lawyer Yervand Varosyan, another participant of the press service, said the assailants would go unpunished. There is a video showing four people enter Tigran Atanesyan’s office and leave the premises safe and sound. “The investigative body also has the video. Obviously these people hold have certain positions in the Chamber of Advocates and could not act on their own. The chairman of the Chamber of Advocates was aware of everything. Had they acted without his knowledge, they would have been dismissed long ago. But as you see they continue to work,” said the lawyer. Tigran Atanesyan is ready to withdraw the appeal, provided that criminal prosecution is stopped. The lawyer is ready to reconcile with the four advocates who came to his office if they apologize to him. At the same time, he demands that they hand in resignations. “I know that I can be tried, but I do not care, I have seen a lot of injustice,” he said. On April 27, lawyers Tigran Atanesyan and Armen Soghomonyan were beaten up during an argument in Atanesyan’s office. Based on the report, a criminal case was instituted under Article 118 of the Criminal Code. Another criminal case was instituted on the same day based on the report of lawyers Simon Babayan, Arsen Harutyunyan and Vrezh Khachikyan, who claimed that they had received bodily injuries during an argument in Atanesyan’s office.
