Member of the European Parliament Charles Tannock (United Kingdom) has called on Azerbaijan to give its consent to establishment of investigative mechanisms along the Line of Contact with Karabakh. He expressed his deep concerns over the latest tensions in the conflict zone and said the death of two Azerbaijani civilians on July 4th is deeply regrettable. “Reports that Azerbaijan has military posts in civilian areas which the country uses as a human shield give rise to deep concerns. Such actions contradict the Geneva Convention. A full investigation into this incident is clearly necessary and a return to the Minsk Process as a means of de-escalating the current tension along the Line of Contact. “Armenia has agreed to the installation of the investigative mechanism and I call on Azerbaijan to do the same,” Charles Tannock stated.
