Hundreds of firefighters have been working through the night to put out a huge blaze that's engulfed a residential apartment block in West London, CNN reports. According to the London Fire Brigade and the Metropolitan Police, the fire broke out in the high-rise apartment building at around 1:16 a.m. and quickly engulfed the building, Grenfell Tower, in North Kensington, the New York Times reports. The London Fire Brigade said the flames had spread from the second floor to the top floor of the 27-story building, which contains some 120 apartments. More than 20 ambulances were sent to the scene. The police said there were “a number of people being treated for a range of injuries” and that “residents continue to be evacuated.” The London Ambulance Service said it had taken 30 patients to five hospitals. At dawn, the blaze still burned brightly against the pale sky, with columns of thick black smoke ascending. _96481383_dc487669-5e42-490e-9690-d5ce12593a21
