GKS-Armenia trains blind children without state support (video)
A month ago, Japan Karate Shoto Federation (GKS-Armenia) received an award - the US flag - by Congressman Adam Schiff. This, according to the US Constitution, is one of the highest awards in the country. “We took four children with us - children with disabilities. They showed martial arts tricking techniques. Our activity was highly appreciated and we received prizes,” says Haykaz Makaryan, a lawmaker at the Federation. The Federation also organizes free training for children with disabilities in Armenia. It is a commendable step to train blind children without any state support,” say the Federation members. The Federation intends to continue the program ad expects government support. “We are appealing to the philanthropists across the country to help us develop this sport and assist us in carrying on these activities. We also want to turn to the President of National Olympic Committee of Armenia, Gagik Tsarukyan. We expect his support in including this sport in the Olympic Games," they added.
