Taron Margaryan: I shall vote for Yerevan (video)
Residents of Yerevan are electing a new city council today, which, in turn, will pick the mayor of Yerevan. Yerevan’s incumbent Mayor Taron Margaryan has cast his vote at 01/19 Polling Station. He was accompanied by his mother, wife, sister and two sons. Three political parties are participating in the City Council Elections – the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (HHK), the newly formed Yerkir Tsirani party and the Yelk alliance. The HHK has nominated Taron Margaryan for re-election, Yerkir Tsirani’s candidate for Yerevan Mayor is its leader Zaruhi Postanjyan, a former member of the Heritage Party. Nikol Pashinyan was nominated by the Yelk bloc. When asked about his chances in the elections, Taron Margaryan said, “Let us wait and see the results.” In reply to the next question whether he would vote for Pashinyan or Postanjyan, the HHK candidate said, “I shall vote for Yerevan.”
