Some remained dissatisfied because there were few mandates (video)

Each and every election shows the sad state of our country although last month’s parliamentary elections left the impression that everyone had assessed their situation rationally. “What do they complain of? I cannot understand… With the exception of those who took their mandates I did not see or hear other complaints. Everyone got what they wanted except for those who wanted to receive a mandate, too. But there were many of them and few mandates, and naturally some remained dissatisfied,” said Manvel Sargsyan, Director of the Armenian Center for National and International Studies (ACNIS). He added that this time the competing political forces blamed people for different reasons. “It turned out that people are not people, that is why we have appeared in such a situation today. This is a wrong approach, because every person should understand that he is part of this nation.” This, Manvel Sargsyan says, is a consequence of the frivolous attitude that was formed during the first elections [in 1991], and found its reflection on our political arena. “For example, let us understand the essence of the Tsarukyan alliance or party from the political perspective. It is impossible to describe it; it does not enter into any theory. Look at what a frivolous attitude can lead to." Manvel Sargsyan says the reason is that people do not struggle for their rights – starting from citizens to the state. “An atmosphere of obedience is formed in our society,” he said in conclusion.
