Politics
Untitled2-1

Voters in Yerevan will elect on May 14 a new municipal council that will elect the city mayor in its first meeting. Our co-citizens are not particularly excited by the upcoming election. “I am not interested [in the election] at all, because they cheat people every time. Why should I believe them,” said one of our respondents. “Republicans are invincible; they do whatever they want to do. Who pays attention to us?” said another. Three political forces will contest the upcoming municipal election – the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (HHK) which has nominated incumbent Mayor Taron Markaryan for re-election, Yelk alliance, which nominated one of its leaders, Nikol Pashinyan, for the post, and the Yerkir Tsirani, a newly established party by of Zaruhi Postanjyan. There are 841 973 eligible voters in Yerevan. On March 14, they will elect a 65-member city council. Watch the video to know the opinion of Yerevan citizens
