“It’s Your Choice,” an Armenia-based NGO that monitored the April 2 parliamentary elections in the country, registered cases of violations at some polling stations, including violation of secrecy of vote and cases of double voting. Hasmik Sargsyan, Secretary of the NGO, today told journalists that they received reports about open voting, overcrowding and presence of any unauthorized personnel at polling stations, attempts to guide voters, cases of violence against media representatives and proxies, etc. “Those irregularities could not affect the results of the Sunday elections, because the defeated forces could not pass the threshold and enter the parliament even if their votes were doubled,” she said. Hasmik Sargsyan says their observers did not have information about vote buying. “On the whole, our organization assesses the election campaign and voting positively and sees some improvement compared with previous elections and referendums,” she added. The NGO monitored the organization and conduct of the elections at 998 polling stations, i.e. at 50 percent of polling stations opened across the country on election day.
