"Bringer of bread" undergoing surgery in Yerevan hospital
Artur Sargsyan, nicknamed the “bringer of bread,” has been transferred to the Republican Medical Center with sharp pains. He is undergoing surgery now. Sargsyan’s health deteriorated sharply after he received a summons from the Special Investigative Service (SIS). Talking to A1+ Company, his relatives expressed their surprise at the SIS decision. “What do they want from Artur? After his release, he was living in peace. He has not broken any law,” they said. Artur Sargsyan was released from custody on March 6 following a 25-day hunger strike. He was detained in July and was immediately accused of aiding the Sasna Dzrer armed group that seized a police compound in Yerevan. The SIS agreed to free Sargsyan on December 31 pending trial due to his deteriorating health condition but again detained him on February 9, saying that he ignored a summons from SIS.
