Sociologist Aharon Adibekyan has conducted a survey in 100 settlements in Armenia to measure the reputation of political parties among voters. He says during the survey they took into account the resources of political parties, as well as the first figures of the given political force. Accordingly, the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (HHK) is the highest-ranked (15%) among the political parties. Gagik Tsarukyan’s Prosperous Armenia Party (BHK) is second with 9%, followed by Armenian Revolutionary Federation – Dashnaktsutyun (7%), Rule of Law -OEK (7%), Armenian National Congress -HAK (5%), electoral alliance formed by Vartan Oskanian, Raffi Hovannisian and Seyran Ohanyan (4%), Free Democrats (2%) and Yelk alliance (2%). “The HHK has the the greatest resource. Recently, Armenians elected heads in 536 communities. Eighty percent of them represent the HHK which is a very big social base,” the sociologist said. Likewise, the role of charismatic figures of the given political force is important. “Tsarukyan is the charismatic figure of the BHK. The charismatic leaders of the HHK are Serzh Sargsyan and Karen Karapetyan, occasionally Galust Sahakyan. We saw this factor but we did not see other factors, for example organizational and others,” he said. The sociologist added that the Yelk alliance is in the worst situation in this sense, as it does not have charismatic leaders.
