French Ambassador: Things cannot continue this way

The co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group believe that there is no alternative to the peaceful solution of the Karabakh conflict, the French Ambassador to Armenia said today. The current situation cannot be acceptable for any of the conflicting sides as both sides sustain losses. “Tensions continue on the [Karabakh-Azerbaijan] border. Things cannot continue this way any longer,” Jean François Charpentier told journalists in Yerevan. He stressed the need of respecting the agreements and commitments reached at meetings of different levels. “As soon as the moment matures, France is ready to assist in the arrangement of such meetings. Eventually, an important thing to understand in this context is that the conflict settlement does not depend on the mediators, rather, it depends on the political will of the conflicting sides,” the French Ambassador stressed in his speech.
