Number of the unemployed increased in 2016
As of December 1, 2016, 95 800 citizens have registered in the employment centers of the State Employment Agency. 80 800 of them are jobless. According to the words of Head of the Agency Artak Mangasaryan, the number of the registered unemployed has increased by 5,6 percent. During the year 7647 vacant jobs have been presented by 2519 employers; 16592 have been employed. Specialists with preliminary and average professional education are more in demand- pharmacologists, specialists in the sphere of finance and sales, cooks, bakers, hairdressers, tailors and waiters. “The salaries of the jobs presented to the State Employment Agency are from AMD 80 to 130 000. Sometimes there are high paid jobs, but they do not influence the average index. For example, there is a job with AMD 380 000 salary; it is the job of crane operator.” According to the words of A. Mangasaryan, 550 Syrian Armenians have been registered in the agency. 120 of them have already been employed, “There are employers, who want to hire especially Syrian Armenians, as their professional skills are quite high.”
